KKR VS RCB News update

KKR vs RCB Match Report – KKR Won By 9 Wickets

In the KKR vs. RCB match update, the RCB fans saw a disappointing performance by the RCB players as the Kolkata Knight Riders whipped them out in the opening of the second leg of IPL 2021. KKR recorded an excellent wicket victory at the Abu Dhabi in the 31st match against RCB and quickly chased the score of 92.

Showcasing an entirely opposite performance compared to the first edition of IPL, RCB fumbled inexplicably and folded for 92 in 20 overs. It was an effortless and smooth win for the KKR, who chased the target in just 10 overs,

Both teams have faced each other in seven games in the earlier section of the IPL that was put to hold. Interestingly, in the first leg of the IPL, both teams had contrasting fortunes where Royal Challengers Bangalore had five wins, and Kolkata Knight Riders had five losses.

In the 31st match KKR vs. RCB match, it seemed as if the teams swapped their fates, and the gameplay completely changed. KKR washed off RCB on Monday night in Abu Dhabi. With Knight Riders’ bowlers bringing their phenomenal performance to sweep the Royal Challengers off their feet for just 92, which is their third-lowest while batting first in the IPL.

Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat, leaving KKR to chase the score. Varun Chakravarthy began playing for KKR and amazingly picked up three wickets for 13 in his four overs, followed by Andre Russell, who also picked up three wickets, and Lockie Ferguson picking up two. Prasidh Krishna dismissed Kohli which was an important wicket for RCB.

The team of Royal Challengers Bangalore was in sticky waters when the three key players of the team – Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and AB de Villiers fell for 5, 10, and 0, respectively. Once Royal Challengers came down to 63 for 5, the spinners – Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine kept the middle and lower order guessing with their turn.

KKR opener and an all-rounder, Venkatesh Iyer, impressed with a couple of glorious drives off Mohammed Siraj in the opening over in his debut match. Later in his over, Iyer slammed the pacer for a stunning six in the match.

Shubman Gill helped himself to a classy 48 off 34 balls supporting Iyer in his opening game.

However, Shubman Gill was dismissed for 48, Venkatesh Iyer still finished off in style as Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the total of 93 in 10 overs with 9 wickets in hand.

“More special than the 200th game is this uniform: we promised that we would be playing for the Covid warriors, with these jerseys being auctioned for people,” Kohli stated at the toss.

Despite the considerable loss and downfall of the RCB, they have still maintained their position in the top 4 teams owing to their last wins. Meanwhile, RCB is sitting comfortably on the top half of the IPL 2021 points table with 10 points. Virat Kohli will step down as RCB captain after this season, and this was his 200th for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He said that he would continue playing for the team but is leaving the captaincy. It is interesting to note that he is the only playing player in IPL history to represent RCB in all 14 seasons.

Player’s Talk

After an exceptional match and amazing gameplay by the Kolkata Knight Riders, here is what the players had to say.

 Eoin Morgan, KKR

Very rarely do you perform as well as we have today? The timing of it is excellent. The talent we have within our squad, sometimes that counts for nothing. You have to go out there and show how good you are. We have a long way to go. Need a lot of things to go right. Today’s the right start.

 Shubman Gill, KKR

We were determined to make a comeback and we did well in all departments. Hope we go forward and qualify for the playoffs. The plan was to get the net run rate going. Iyer was batting well in the practice.

Virat Kohli, Captain, RCB It was important to get a good partnership. We didn’t expect that much dew to kick in that early. This is a bit of a wake-up call. You can make the argument that we were rusty but as professionals, you’re expected to turn up and adjust. Pretty good from Varun. He’s going to be a key factor when he plays for India.
