KKR vs MI Match report

KKR vs MI Match Report – KKR Creams off a Smooth win against MI by 7 Wickets.

Kolkata Knight Riders seem to be on a winning spree. In the 34th match of IPL 2021, KKR emerged as the winner.

After knocking off Royal Challengers Bangalore, the men in purple and gold creamed off an easy win against the Mumbai Indians.

Phenomenally well-shot half-centuries from Tripathi and Iyer gave Kolkata Knight Riders a fantastic 7-wicket win against Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi. Iyer hit his maiden IPL fifty off 25 balls, and along with Rahul Tripathi’s 50 off 25 balls, they led their team to win by 100 runs inside ten overs after Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Shubman Gill at 13.

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to bowl first against Mumbai Indians. Knight Riders’ openers – Gill and Iyer, gave their team a breezy start for the second time in two consecutive games.

Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya failed to give a good lead or a good end to the innings to MI as KKR managed to restrict Mumbai Indians to 155/6.

Quinton de Kock managed to hit over half a century but was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna, who had also dismissed Suryakaumar Yadav at 5 runs, followed by Sunil Narine dismissing Rohit Sharma for 33. Sharma and de Kock undoubtedly gave a strong start to the Mumbai Indians Innings as they reached fifty inside the powerplay, but Kolkata Knight Riders had other plans and were looking forward to staying steady with their winning streak.

Even though it was not a good day for Mumbai Indians, the fans witnessed a fantastic run chase by the Kolkata Knight Riders as the players showered 4s and 6s in the Abu Dhabi stadium.

Eoin Morgan

“It’s been a long time since we’ve played like this. To hold such a strong team, and chase it down in the manner we did gives us confidence. We were trying to fit Iyer into the XI with a lot of talented guys, and it’s fantastic how he has scored runs. In the practice games, he has gone out to play this way. Baz backs him to the hilt. It was just a second game for him but he played with full confidence. Sunil and Varun are formidable bowlers. Sunil has been integral in winning KKR championships in the past. Varun is a fresh guy. The first two games in this second phase have been a great template for us to play. There’s only one way for us to go in the points table, and that’s up.”

Rahul Tripathi

“I really enjoyed and am happy that I stayed till the end and got the team home. Obviously, the coach tells us to be positive. When you are positive the pressure goes to the bowlers and you just look for runs. It was important to put their spinners under pressure. I felt it was important to get boundaries. The team environment is very positive. We wanted to hit the ground running in the second phase. Definitely very happy.”

Rohit Sharma

“We started really well but didn’t get enough towards the back end. I thought it was a good pitch, we failed to capitalize on the start we got and we didn’t bowl well at the start. I don’t want to look into it too much, things can happen and you have to move on. After a good start, we had to get small partnerships but we kept losing wickets at regular intervals, it is not easy for new batters to go in and start hitting the ball. It is something that happened in the last game as well and we will address it. It is always there at the back of the mind on where you stand, we are still in the middle of the table, so we have to get back and fight and hopefully get some wins on the trot.”

The action of the IPL will continue on 24th September with Royal Challengers Bangalore taking on Chennai Super Kings. You can check the RCB vs CSK head-to-head report by My Casino Guru and place your bets on your favorite team or player at sports betting sites.
