RCB vs RR 43RD Match Report IPL 2021

RR vs RCB 43rd Match Report IPL 2021 – RCB Won By 7 wickets

What was expected to be an equal match came out to be a huge defeat for Rajasthan Royals. Royal Challengers Bangalore registered a thumping win against Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets and chased down an easy score of 149 runs in just 17.1 overs.

This win has closely secured the position for Royal Challengers in the playoffs who are currently sitting at the third spot with 12 points from 10 matches. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have a tough road ahead as their loss on Wednesday against RCB has put them in a tight situation and has pushed them down to seventh position with 8 points after losing seven matches out of 11.

Even though RCB did not have a fantastic start in the second leg of IPL, which was completely opposite of what they showcased, they brought back their winning form after the losses, including the nine-wicket defeat against KKR where they made just 92 runs.

Royal Challengers won the toss and elected to bowl first, putting Rajasthan into batting.

Earlier, RR was off to a fantastic start and creamed off decent runs in the powerplay. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Evin Lewis took RR past fifty with their fours and sixes against the Royal Challengers bowlers.

Mohammed Siraj pulled off a four-run over to close the powerplay; Jaiswal managed to hit two fours in the seventh over off Daniel Christian, which was then followed by a six in the ninth over. Lewis also contributed phenomenally in the innings by bringing up his fifty in the 10th over, followed by RR’s 100 in the next over.

However, the run-rails simmered down a little as Christian then returned the favor by dismissing Jaiswal in the same over. Yashasvi’s wicket gave RCB a much-needed breakthrough. Riding the same momentum, RCB picked the second wicket as Garton dismissed Lewis. In the 13th over, Yuzvendra Chahal gave a push to RCB and had better of Mahipal Lomror, which was a continued disappointment for Rajasthan Royals in the face of Shahbaz Ahmed’s double-wicket, where he dismissed Samson and Tewatia. The continuous dismissals stuck RR to 117/5 despite a fantastic performance by RR in the first few overs.

Following that, Chahal picked his second wicket as RR lost Liam Livingstone as their sixth wicket.

Harshal Patel ended the RR innings with a three-wicket final over where he dismissed Riyan Parag, Chris Morris, and Chetan Sakariya and restricted Royals to 149/9.

In the chase, RCB was quick as captain Virat Kohli bagged three fours in the first over, and Devdutt Padikkal hit a four in the second over. In the final over of the powerplay, RR got their first wicket, followed by a huge wicket of Virat Kohli in the seventh over.

KS Bharat and Maxwell then put on a 69-run performance to take RCB closer to the win, and Maxwell scored an unbeaten 50 as he and AB de Villiers took RCB closer to their dream of making it to the playoffs.

Yuzvendra Chahal was awarded as the man of the match for his phenomenal match figures of 4-0-18-2.

After this win, RCB is close to the playoffs while Rajasthan Royals are back to struggling with four other teams in the mid-squabble.

Players Talk

Yuzvendra Chahal (MoM)

“Two lefties were batting, Virat said if one of them got out, you need to come in and bowl your four. I watched Samson’s and Livingstone’s videos. Samson is very good through the leg side so I decided to keep it outside off to him. I bowled well in the Sri Lanka series, that’s where I got my momentum back.”

Virat Kohli

“We have come back strongly in two games back-to-back with the ball. We have dominated from strong starts by the opposition. We knew with the kind of bowling attack we have; things will open. If we hold our patience, we will draw mistakes and that’s what happened. Bowled Maxi because of the two lefties up-top. Very good game for Garton, showed immense courage to come back. Through the middle overs our bowling has been brilliant, if you take 4-5 wickets through the middle it sets the game up. We are aware of the pace of this tournament; we are slowly but surely getting into the groove. All departments are coming together nicely.”

Glenn Maxwell (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

“I thought we played really well. To bring it back the way we did during the last 10 overs was outstanding. We were then able to take it deep with the bat. I’ve felt really good from the moment I’ve come here (to RCB). Really nice getting out to the middle. I don’t think it’s different to any other franchise but it’s nice to have a bunch of guys doing different things. Everyone is chipping in and it’s been great so far. (On the experiment with KS Bharat at 3) I wouldn’t call it an experiment – he’s a genuine top-class batter and the way he’s going about his innings is fantastic. We’ve been planning to have batters to go out at different times and it is working beautifully for us.”

Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals Captain)

“I think we got a really good start. The openers did really well, we could not capitalize on that though. Our middle-order needs some work. The wicket was a little two-paced. I think it has been a hard week for us and we need to put in a fight as a team. It may have been an easy target for them but we had to put up a fight and I am happy with the intent we showed with the ball. We don’t have anything to lose and that comes with a lot of freedom. We can go out and express ourselves. We’ve seen some funny things happen in the IPL and we need to believe in ourselves.”
